Radnor Men Open U.S.' First Ayurvedic Herb Restaurant In Philly

At Ancient Spirits and Grille, a 3-story restaurant, guests can order from personalized menus by answering questions about their body types.

RADNOR, PA — Last week, Syam Namballa and Mahi Reddy – Radnor area residents and lifelong friends – opened the doors to Ancient Spirits and Grille, a 7,000 square foot restaurant focused on organic dishes and wellness that offers personalized menus.

Ancient Spirits and Grille, located at 1726 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, is America's first "Ayurvedic herbal restaurant and cocktail bar," a news release said. The independently owned and operated restaurant has three stories, five dining rooms and two bars.

It's anchored by a 50 foot green-style wall, which wraps from the first floor to the third and comes with its own private table and mini dining room 15 feet off the ground.

The restaurant offers contemporary European cuisine inspired by Ayurveda, a practice that "dates back 5,000 years and is a relevant practice even today to restore and maintain the harmony between the body and the mind," according to the news release.

"Holistic food plays a significant role to promote wellness by remedying the body’s imbalances," the news release said. "Ancient Spirits and Grille is America’s first herbal restaurant and lounge, taking inspiration from Ayurveda to bring these holistic and organic foods to life. "
