U.S. Rep Scanlon Vows To Protect Democracy
Scanlon is named a ranking member of the House Subcommittee on Constitution and Limited Government.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon announced Thursday that she was appointed to serve as a ranking member on the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government in the 118th Congress.
"I came to Congress to protect our Democracy and safeguard the fundamental freedoms promised to all Americans," Scanlon said. “I will use the position to stand up to extremist attacks on our elections and voting rights, government institutions, and our right to safe and accessible reproductive health care.”
“As always, I am committed to finding common ground wherever possible to solve problems for the American people, but I will never hesitate to stand up to extremism when it threatens our freedoms and undermines our values.”

U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler, a New York Democrat and ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, said Scanlon will be on the front lines of several crucial battles, including our fight to protect and expand voting rights and our ongoing work to restore abortion rights for all women.
The Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government has jurisdiction over constitutional rights, constitutional amendments, federal civil rights, voting rights, claims against the United States, non-immigration private claims bills, ethics in government, tort liability, and other matters.
