Free Fall Workshops Set for Roxborough Homeowners
Preservation Alliance and Roxborough Development Corporation present more training sessions.
Owning an historic home comes with both charm and chores to preserve the challenging character antiquity provides. Roxborough's homeowners will get an opportunity to learn some tips on how to keep those homes looking new.
The partners with the Preservation Alliance to offer free homeowner workshops this fall, geared toward historic properties.
"We are glad to welcome back the Historic Preservation Workshops to Roxborough after a successful first series last April," Executive Director Bernard Guet said. "Because of such a large turnout we outgrew our space and Roxborough Memorial Hospital has allowed us to use the Wolcoff Auditorium for the September-October series."

In the spring, the similar lectures. Additionally, Roxborough homeowners were given the opportunity to apply for matching grants if they wanted to renovate their homes using an preservation architect.
The free workshops in the fall series will bring in "a broad variety of preservation professionals on a range of topics including working with architects and contractors, roofing on historic buildings, historic windows, and masonry and pointing," according to a news release.

Guet said the initiative's intention is to "raise awareness of Roxborough's historical assets and connect homeowners with industry professionals about best practices and methods for maintaining and improving their older homes."
Workshops begin Sept. 20 and run every Thursday through Oct. 11 at the .
