Kids 'Rookie Rugby' Program Coming To Roxborough-Manayunk Area
The six-week program is intended for boys and girls 5 to 13 years old and is a non-contact version of rugby. The program begins Jan. 13.

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA – The Wissahickon Athletic Association is inviting boys and girls 5 to 13 years old to sign up for a six-week "Rookie Rugby" program that begins Jan. 13.
Wiassahickon Braves and USA Rugby are teaming up to offer the program that features a non-contact version of rugby.
The program begins Saturday, Jan. 13 and runs each Saturday to February 17.

Each session will be held from 10 a.m to noon at Hillside Playground, 201 Fountain St. in Roxborough.
Registration costs $40 per player.

Fred Koniecki, head coach of Roman Catholic High School Rugby, and Rob Deery, a former four-year starter for Drexel University with two years of semi pro experience with the Maryland Exiles, will lead the program.
The program aims to give young players a fun, safe, and enjoyable rugby learning experience while also teaching skill development, team work, and fitness.
