Roxborough High Hosting First Football Game Since Shooting

Roxborough High School will take on Kensington High School Friday afternoon, marking the first game at the school since the shooting.

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — The Roxborough High School community is still working to get back to normalcy after the Sept. 27 shooting by hosting its first football game Friday.

Roxborough High School will take on Kensington High School at 3 p.m. Friday at Roxborough High.

The game will mark the first since five teenagers were shot outside the school following a football scrimmage.

Killed in the shooting was 14-year-old Nicolas Elizalde.

Four other boys suffered other, non-fatal injuries in the hail of gunfire, which police said more than 60 shots were fired.

Police have taken two people into custody in connection with the shooting.

Authorities are still looking for others involved in the shooting, including 16-year-old Dayron Burney-Thorn, who remains at large and is wanted on murder and related charges.
