Roxborough High Says Goodbye to The Class of 2013

Eighty-nine seniors from Roxborough High received their diplomas on Wednesday.

The 89 seniors of the Roxborough High School class of 2013 received their diplomas on Wednesday in front of proud and screaming parents.

“Today is the day you cross that symbolic threshold that announces your arrival into the world as young adults,” said Roxborough High School Principal Steve Brandt.  “My only hope is that you give back to the world at least what was given to you.”

Class salutatorian Guia Longasa said that when she first arrived at Roxborough High School the school lived up to its reputation, and she was ashamed to tell people that she went there.

“Then, in my sophomore year, a shiny head arrived and started clearing the hallways.  The knight in shining armor, Mr. Steve Brandt.”

Longasa added, “I know I received the best education possible.  I’m proud to be a graduate of Roxborough High.”

Class valedictorian Chau Leiu said he had a hard time assimilating when he first arrived from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam with his family his sophomore year.

“I ask that everyone aspire to be comfortable in their surroundings, and I ask that everyone aspire to be joyful.”

Leiu added, “I ask that people step outside of their comfort zones.  Now is the time to expose and explore.”

According to Brandt, the class of 2013 received $1,532,854 in scholarship money.

“I salute all of you guys for all of your hard work,” Brandt said.
