Roxborough Native Bailey Has Four Catches in Eagles Preseason Game

Receiver, undrafted out of college, is trying to make the Eagles' roster

Rasheed Bailey, a Roxborough native and graduate of Roxborough High School who is trying to make the Eagles’ team as a rookie wide receiver, had four catches for 37 yards in the Eagles’ preseason game on Saturday night, before leaving the game due to a shoulder injury. The Eagles beat the Baltimore Ravens 40-17 to bring their preseason record to 2-0.

Bailey tied for the team lead in catches for the game with another rookie, first rounder Nelson Agholor. X-rays were negative on the shoulder injury, coach Chip Kelly said after the game.

Local Eagles experts were impressed with Bailey’s showing.

“Rasheed Bailey made some nice catches. Nothing too flashy, but solid. He could be pushing for a practice squad spot,” Bleeding Green Nation editor Brandon Lee Gowton wrote in his recap of the game.

Undrafted out of Delaware County College, the 22-year-old Bailey signed as a free agent with the Eagles in May.

“If I could tell any little kid that’s listening, any parent, anybody that’s listening,” Bailey told WIP’s morning show last Tuesday. “Your dream, your dream is what keeps you going. Nothing else keeps you going, but your dream.”
