Roxborough Principal Earns Prestigious Award

Roxborough High School's Dana Jenkins is one of seven Philadelphia School District administrators to receive the Lindback Award Tuesday.

Roxborough High School’s Principal Dana Jenkins took the stage at the Prince Music Theater Tuesday afternoon as one of seven Philadelphia school administrators awarded the annual Lindback Distinguished Principal Award, according to philly.com.

The accolades that come with the award, given by the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation, comes with a $20,000 stipend to benefit the school. According to the Roxborough High School website, Jenkins plans to use the money to improve and grow the school’s International Business Career & Technology Education program.

“Our Lindback Award recipients are often called to do the extraordinary under challenging circumstances,” said Philadelphia School District Superintendent William Hite in a statement. “They represent the best of our best. On behalf of the School District of Philadelphia, I congratulate all of our Lindback principals and thank the Lindback Foundation for its continued support.”

This is Jenkins’ second year as Roxborough’s principal after joining the school in 2008. She is credited with expanding the school’s career academy model, creating a student Ambassador Program and increasing the graduation and college acceptance rates.
