Roxborough Readies for Philadelphia International Cycling Classic
The women's race will be the featured event this year, with cyclists competing for the Women's Road World Cup.

The Philadelphia International Cycling Classic will take over the Roxborough/Manayunk area Sunday as athletes from around the world will lineup at the starting line a top the Manayunk Wall on Lycecum Ave.
Organizers have announced that this year’s featured race will be the women’s event, with teams from all over the world racing six laps on the 12.3 mile course. For the first time since 2001, the race has been designated a Women’s World Cup event.
The day begins at 6 a.m. with packet pickups for pre-registered racers. The racers and unregistered cyclists will have the opportunity to warmup at 6:45 a.m. with a recreational ride around the course. The ride will start and finish at Sedgely Drive and Lemon Hill Drive, allowing riders to complete as many laps as possible until 8 a.m.

The nine-lap Men’s Race starts at 8 a.m. running for a total 110.7 miles/173 km and ending approximately at noon. At 12:30 p.m., the Women’s Race will begin its six-lap, 73.8 miles/115km race, ending at approximately 3:45 p.m.
The route goes through Manayank, East Falls, Kelly Drive and Fairmount Park. The winner of both the men’s and women’s races will receive $30,000.

A large crowd is expected to descend upon the area. Race organizers urge the use of public transportation on Sunday, recommending the SEPTA Manayunk/Norristown Line. Trains run every half hour, all day long. SEPTA’s One Day Independence Pass provides unlimited one-day travel on all of SEPTA. For details visit ISEPTAPHILLY.COM.
Police will have NO PARKING signs posted starting Friday, June 5 at 8 a.m. through Sunday, June 7, 8 p.m. at the following locations:
- Cresson St. to Pechin St. on Lyceum Ave. will be posted NO Parking from Friday, June 5, 7 a.m. until Sunday 8 p.m. Street closures begin on Sunday, June 7 starting at 5:30 a.m.
- Lyceum Ave. from Manayunk Ave. to Pechin St. will be closed starting Saturday, June 6 at 7 a.m. until Sunday 8 p.m.
- Lyceum Ave. from Pechin St. to Mitchell St. will be closed starting Saturday, June 6 at 7 a.m. until Sunday 8 p.m.
- Manayunk Ave. from Green Ln. to Lyceum Ave. will be closed to public traffic on Sunday, June 7 starting at 5:30 a.m. until Sunday 8 p.m.
- Pechin St. from Green Ln. to Lyceum Ave. will be closed to public traffic on Sunday, June 7 starting at 5:30 a.m. until Sunday 8 p.m.
