WATCH: Manayunk Filmmaker Shows Good Side Of Eagles Fans

The video shows the good, fun side of Philadelphia sports fans and not the stereotype of awful that persists outside the city. Watch here.

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA – Philadelphia sports fans get a bad wrap. Whether the negative stereotype comes from personal experiences, seeing reports of fans punching horses, or the fact that Eagles fans pelted Santa Claus with snowballs in 1968, that stereotype is not applicable to all Philly sports fans.

And Matt Conlin, a videographer based in Manayunk, created a video that shows the good side of our sports fans, specifically Eagles diehards.

The video footage Conlin used was shot outside Lincoln Financial Field and in the city proper on Sunday, Jan. 21 when the Eagles took on and trounced the Minnesota Vikings at home, securing the NFC championship and sending the Birds to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2005.

"It's often said that Philadelphia has some of the worst sports fans in the country," the opening text in the video reads. "But what they neglect to see is the true heart of each and every person in this great city."

Conlin doesn't shy away from the rowdiness of the fans either, as there is a clear distinction between being passionately rowdy and and being dangerously stupid, something critics of Philly fans often overlook.

The video was posted on Jan. 29 and has since accrued more than 30,000 views on YouTube. Conlin encourages proud Philly fans to share the video with the hashtag #EaglesRealFans and eschew the nasty fan stereotype.

Well done, Mr. Conlin.

And go Birds!
