Get Out: Spring Rummage Sale, Free Comic Books or High Fashion

1. Bird Walks

When/Where: 7:30 a.m. Friday, May 3 at Sewickley Heights Borough Park.

Why Go: Join Bob Van Newkirk of the Three Rivers Birding Club for some ornithological action in Sewickley Heights Borough Park. Meet in the upper parking lot at the park, rain or shine.

2. Sewickley United Methodist Spring Rummage Sale

 When/Where: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 at the Sewickley United Methodist Church.

Why Go: The United Methodist Women are having their annual sale in the basement of the church at Broad and Thorn streets. Proceeds support a variety of missions.  

Admission: Free. 

 

3. St. Paul's Lutheran Church Spring Rummage Sale

 When/Where: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, May 3 and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 4 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Why Go: The annual rummage sale offers books, furniture and small appliances, as well as clothing for men, women and children. The event is sponsored by the St. Paul's Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Admission: Free. A $2 bag sale is featured on Saturday.

 

4. Free Comic Book Day and Super Hero Savings

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at Big Bang Comics, 437 Broad St., Sewickley.

Why Go: Free comics will be given away and sales on pretty much everything in the store. Plus, professional comic artist Pat Oliffe of Marvel, DC and Disney fame will be in the store from 1 to 4 p.m. doing sketches and signing items for fans.  

Admission: Free.

 

5. Odyssey of the Mind Car Wash and Bake Sale

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4 in the Citgo parking lot in Sewickley. 

Why Go: Get your car washed, buy baked goods while you wait and help support the OM team headed to the World Finals. 

Admission: Free.

 

6. Lost and Found: Sustainable High Fashion

When/Where: 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at Sweetwater Center for the Arts. 

Why Go: This exhibit features contemporary fashions created with repurposed and upcycled elements. Artists inject renewed life into recyled materials. The open reception will include an informal fashion show during the event. Exhibit runs through May 31. 

Admission: Free.

 

7. Cinco De Mayo

When/Where: Sunday, May 5 at Azul Bar y Cantina, Leetsdale or Rook's East Side Saloon, Ambridge. 

Why Go: Enjoy Mexican food and drink specials on this anniversary of the Battle of Puebla.

Admission: Free.
