Get Out: St. Paddy's Day Plans and 'Welcome, Spring'

It's the Friday before St. Patrick's Day, and you need some help making your weekend plans.

Sewickley Soup Crawl

When/Where: Noon to 3 p.m. Saturday in Wolcott Park, Sewickley. 

Why Go: Sample dozens of signature soups prepared by neighborhood restaurants, served at participating retailers. You'll get a punch card and ballot to vote for . Kids can enjoy a free scavenger hunt. Proceeds benefit the Sewickley Community Center Food Bank.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

When/Where: 10 a.m. Saturday in Downtown Pittsburgh. The parade kicks off at the Greyhound Bus Station and will proceed down Grant Street. 

Why Go: It's billed as the second largest St. Paddy's Day fete in the country. Vice President Joe Biden will be among the more than 150,000 people expected to be on hand.

Shamrock-athon

When/Where: 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the .

Why Go: Join the  for a family-oriented St. Patrick's Day celebration.

When/Where: All-day Saturday at 282 4th St, Ambridge. 

Why Go: Want to steer clear of the crowds in Downtown Pittsburgh? Head over to this Ambridge pub for daylong drink specials and a festive Irish atmosphere.

When/Where: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the in Sewickley.

Why Go: This ongoing art class for youngsters will focus on the spring season. The class spans three weeks.

Why Go: The men's ministry prayer group is open to all age groups and denominations.
