Car Show, Carnival and More to Plan for in the Week Ahead

There are a variety of events in the Sewickley area to look forward to this week.

It's Monday, but it's never too late to plan ahead for the weekend.

Here are five events to look forward to this week:

1. Sewickley Night Market: Beaver Street businesses will set up shop along Beaver Street and host a party from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.

2. Paddle Boarding Lessons: Stand Up Pittsburgh along with Venture Outdoors will offer stand up paddle boarding lessons on the Ohio River in Sewickley on Saturday. Aug. 10.

3. Annual Sewickley Car Show: Broad Street between Thorn and Beaver will be closed to traffic on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. The annual Jaguar Car Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

4. Sewickley United Methodist Church Street Carnival: The 5th Annual Street Carnival is set for Saturday, Aug. 10, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thorn Street between Walnut and Broad streets. There will be live performances, plenty of food, bounce houses and carnival games.

5. Family Fishing: Meet at the Fern Hollow Nature Center in Sewickley to car pool to Soggy Bottom Lake, a private residence on Fern Hollow Road, to fish for blue gills, bass, carp and sunfish. Admission is $15 per fisherman and $5 for an accompanying adult. Pre-registration is required to participate in this program, call 412-741-6136 or email fhnc@verizon.net.
