First Day of Trout Season Opens Today
Beginning at 7 a.m., Bell Acres is hosting its annual pancake and sausage breakfast and taking registrations for the annual children's fishing competition. The fishing season begins at 8 a.m.
Today, April 13, officially marks the opening day of trout season in Pennsylvania.
The regular fishing season opens at 8 a.m. and runs 24 hours a day through Labor Day, according to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
Locally, trout can be found in Big Sewickley Creek where, nearby, the Big Sewickley Creek Volunteer Fire Department is conveniently hosting its annual opening day pancake and sausage breakfast.

The breakfast runs from 7 a.m. to noon today, April 13 at the fire hall, 1850 Big Sewickley Creek Road, Bell Acres.
Pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice will be served with proceeds benefitting the fire department. Â

Price is $6 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 16 and free for kids ages 5 and under.
Children must register by 9 a.m. to enter a free fishing contest. The contest is for children 15 and under. There will be a trophy and prizes for the best catches. To qualify, fish must be turned in by 11 a.m.
