• Aspinwall, Sharpsburg and neighboring fire departments team up to rebuild volunteer force (triblive.com) — Sharpsburg residents are part of a new 10-department coalition using nearly $1 million in federal SAFER grant funds to rebuild the region’s volunteer firefighter ranks. The merged Aspinwall–Sharpsburg department and neighboring companies will hire a coordinator, upgrade gear, and launch recruitment and retention campaigns to strengthen emergency response across Lower Valley communities and key nearby highways, bridges, and facilities.
