Assault, Theft, Car Break-Ins: Springfield Crime Blotter
An Upper Darby man was charged with assault after police said he punched his girlfriend at the Parkway Inn. See the full blotter here.
SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.
Incidents in the blotter occurred between Jan. 17 and Jan. 20.

Jan. 17 at 6:08 p.m.
Officers went to Macy’s at the mall after security there reported two subjects in their custody for stealing over $1,430 worth of clothing. A 23-year-old male and a 29-year-old female, both with no known addresses, were held for arraignment on Retail Theft charges. They were later taken to Delaware County Prison.
Jan. 18 at 6:48 a.m.
Three unlocked vehicles on Schuyler Road, Wayne Avenue, and Greenhill Road were entered sometime overnight. A small number of coins were taken.

Jan. 18 at 8:52 a.m.
An officer was approached on the 600 block of Baltimore Pike by a female victim of assault. She reported her boyfriend had punched her in the face while both were staying in a room at the Parkway Inn. Melvin Joyner, 28, of Upper Darby, was taken into custody and charged with Assault. He was held for arraignment and later transported to Delaware County Prison.
Jan. 18 at 8:56 p.n.
Officers responded to Macy’s at the mall for a report of three males stealing clothing and handbags. Security was able to take one of the males into custody and recover the merchandise as the other two fled. A 22-year-old man from Philadelphia was charged with Retail Theft and held for arraignment.
Jan. 19 at 2:07 a.m.
A group of juvenile males were observed driving in an unauthorized area of the mall property, and one of the vehicles crashed into a guide rail. Five males from Springfield will be charged with curfew violation.
Jan. 20 at 4:52 p.m.
A 36-year-old man from Philadelphia was taken into custody and charged with Retail Theft after stealing close to $600 worth of fragrances. He was held for arraignment.
