Assault, Thefts, Vandalism, More: Springfield Crime Blotter

A Philadelphia man was charged with assault and more after police said he choked his girlfriend on New Year's Eve. See the blotter here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield issued their weekly crime blotter recently.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Dec. 25 and Dec. 31.

Dec. 25, 11:18 hrs.
A resident of the 1100 block of Providence Road reported someone cut a section of string lights displayed on bushes in front of the house.

Dec. 25, 5:33 p.m.
Employees at Red Lobster, unit block of Baltimore Pike, reported an intoxicated male walking around the bar area and refusing to leave. A 36-year-old male from Audobon, New Jersey, was taken into custody. He was later released, and charges for Public Drunkenness will be filed.

Dec. 26, 5:04 p.m.
Three juvenile females from King of Prussia, Yeadon, and Philadelphia were taken into custody after security at Target at the mall reported they stole over $300 worth of cosmetics. The females were later released to family, and charges for Retail Theft will be filed.

Dec. 27, 7:22 p.m.
Target security, 800 block of Baltimore Pike, reported two females stole over $230 worth of clothing and left the store. Officers stopped the females and recovered the merchandise. Two 28-year-old women from Philadelphia were taken into custody and charged with Retail Theft. One was held for arraignment and the other released.

Dec. 27, 9:14 p.m.
A 44-year-old female from Havertown will be charged with Public Drunkenness after she was observed walking around the neighborhood of Pinecrest Road and Indian Rock Drive and fell on her face. Officers arrived and found her to be intoxicated. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, and charges will be filed.

Dec. 30, 10:55 a.m.
A resident of the 100 block of West Avenue reported a package delivery stolen from the front porch area of the property.

Dec. 30, 5:33 p.m.
A shopper at BJ’s Wholesale, 1200 block of East Woodland Avenue, reported a purse stolen from her shopping cart.

Dec. 31, 12:17 p.m.
Officers responded to Springfield Diner, 700 block of Baltimore Pike, for a report of vehicles driving recklessly. Investigation showed four males from Wynnewood, Narberth, Ardmore, and Havertown in possession of marijuana and beer. All four will be cited for Disorderly Conduct and Underage Drinking. They were turned over to family.

Dec. 31, 6:14 p.m.
Officers responded to the 600 block of East Springfield Road to investigate an assault inside a vehicle. The victim reported her boyfriend choked her after the vehicle became disabled on the roadway. Officers found the male intoxicated and took him into custody. Earl Johnson, 44, of Philadelphia, was charged with Assault and other offenses and held for arraignment.

Dec. 31, 7:24 p.m.
A resident of the 300 block of Pinecrest Road reported a group of juveniles came to the front door and kicked the storm door, causing damage. The group was not located.
