SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.
Incidents in the blotter occurred between Jan. 1 and Jan. 5.

Jan. 1, 11:09 a.m.
Employees at the Days Inn, 600 block of Baltimore Pike, reported a male had been in the office area and took money from a cash drawer. Officers were in the area and were familiar with the male from a prior incident. The male fled on foot through backyards on Saxer Avenue and was taken into custody in the rear of a property on the 700 block. A 24-year-old man from Sharon Hill was charged with Theft and other offenses and held for arraignment.
Jan. 1, 2:47 p.m.
Several mailboxes standing along the 400 block of Beatty Road were damaged sometime overnight.

Jan. 2, 2:35 p.m.
A resident of the 900 block of Edwards Drive reported her vehicle had been stolen from the street sometime after 7 a.m. There were no signs of force. At about 9:30 p.m., Philadelphia PD found the vehicle unoccupied after a crash in the city.
Jan. 2, 5:41 p.m.
Officers were called to the YMCA, 100 block of West Sproul Road, for a large fight on the basketball courts. Upon arrival of police, about half those involved had left the facility. It was learned that a team of players were playing basketball against another team they did not know. An argument started which led to a physical altercation between both teams. One subject was treated by medical personnel for a head injury. Det. McNeely is investigating.
Jan. 2, 9:04 p.m.
Macy’s reported a male subject had stolen jackets from display. Officers took a 43-year-old male from Bristol into custody. He will be charged with Retail Theft.
Jan. 3, 4:37 p.m.
Officers responded to Miller’s Ale House, unit block of Baltimore Pike, for a report a male pulled a gun on a couple who were eating inside. The male then left with a female. Officers found the suspect in a vehicle on Baltimore Pike. There were no indications that a gun was involved in the incident, but the male had gone to the restaurant to disrupt a meeting between the couple. A 43-year-old male from Philadelphia will be charged with Disorderly Conduct.
Jan. 3, 8:38 p.m.
Two people, 24 and 21, were charged with Retail Theft after Macy’s security at the mall reported they had stolen jackets and cologne. They were held for arraignment.
Jan. 4, 6:37 p.m.
Officers investigated a crash on the 300 block of Lewis Road in which a vehicle struck a parked vehicle and went on its side. The driver of that vehicle, a 41-year-old male from Springfield, was found to be intoxicated. A quantity of narcotics was found inside the vehicle. The male was treated by medical personnel and transported to a hospital. Charges for DUI and drug offenses will be filed.
Jan. 5, 12:56 p.m.
Macy’s security at the mall reported a male and two females had just selected a large amount of clothing and tried to leave the store. Security confronted the group who dropped the items and fled in a vehicle towards Baltimore Pike.
Jan. 5, 7:46 p.m.
Officers responded to the Rite Aid store, 100 block of Saxer Avenue, for a report that four subjects had been inside stealing batteries and food. Two females who had loaded a shopping cart left before taking the items, but two males left the store with stolen merchandise. Sgt. Welsh checked the area for the suspects and located them at CVS, 300 block of Baltimore Pike. All four were stopped and taken into custody. A 31-year-old female from Philadelphia was found in possession of a quantity of heroin. A 29-year-old male from Philadelphia will be charged with Retail Theft. A 28-year-old from Philadelphia was charged with Retail Theft and held for arraignment.
