Fake ID Bust, Thefts, Car Break-Ins, More: Springfield Crime Blotter

Police said vehicles on Parker Drive, Dunwoody Drive, and Meetinghouse Lane were broken into overnight Sept. 12. See the full blotter here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Sept. 11 and Sept. 16.

Sept. 11 at 9:37 a.m.
Target security at the mall reported observing a male steal multiple small electronics and leave the store. Responding officers observed the suspect walking in the area of the 1100 block Baltimore Pike and after a short foot chase took him into custody. The male, 45 years old from Glenolden, was found to have active arrest warrants from Delaware County. He was turned over to Delaware County Sheriffs, and charges for Retail Theft will be filed.

Sept. 12 at 2:05 a.m.
Several vehicles were entered on Parker Drive, Dunwoody Drive, and Meetinghouse Lane overnight, and wallets and cash stolen. Officers observed a suspect vehicle in the parking lot of Anthony’s Restaurant and attempted to stop several males inside. The vehicle fled and eventually made it to Delaware, where the pursuit was terminated. The vehicle was found to have been stolen from New Castle County. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Sept. 12 at 6:40 p.m.
A 38-year-old female from Chester Springs will be charged with Retail Theft after Macy’s security at the mall reported she stole over $340 worth of jewelry and clothing.

Sept. 13 at 2:55 p.m.
A male shopping at Giant, 700 block of West Sproul Road, reported his wallet had been stolen from his pocket as he shopped. He said that two females had bumped into him at the meat counter, and he later discovered his wallet missing. One of his credit cards was used in Ardmore.

Sept. 15 at 9:45 p.m.
A female reported she had placed her cell phone on the self-checkout counter at Target in the mall and forgot the phone when she walked away. She went back to the counter and found it missing. Target security, on video, observed a male conduct a transaction and then steal the phone. The victim tracked the phone to Walmart and then to a Wawa in Upper Darby when she notified UDPD who responded and recovered the phone from the suspect. Investigation continuing.

Sept. 16 at 7:21 p.m.
Sgt. Welsh observed a young male buying alcoholic beverages at an establishment on the 600 block of Baltimore Pike. The male was identified as a 17-year-old from Woodlyn and found to possess a false identification card showing him to be 22 years old. The alcohol was seized, and the male will be charged with Underage Drinking.
