Package Thefts, Vandalism, DUI, More: Springfield Crime Blotter

Police are reporting a few instances of packages being stolen after delivery as the gift-giving season ramps up. See the full blotter here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued the weekly crime blotter recently.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Dec. 4 and Dec. 10.

Dec. 4, 6:27 p.m.
A resident of the 400 block of East Springfield Road reported the theft of an item from a delivered package. A small electronic item was taken from inside the box. It is unknown if the item was taken after delivery of the box.

Dec. 6, 1:10 p.m.
Two packages were reportedly stolen from the front properties of Kirk Drive and Souththcroft Road around 11:50 a.m.

Dec. 7, 1:55 p.m.
A 30-year-old male from Clifton Heights will be charged with Retail Theft after Target security at the mall observed him steal over $350 worth of merchandise.

Dec. 9, 12:45 a.m.
A resident of the 1000 block of West Avenue reported the house had been egged at about 12:30 a.m. A broken jar was also found on the steps of the property.

Dec. 9, 4:35 p.m.
Macy’s security at the mall reported having a male in custody after observing him steal $455 worth of sunglasses. A 19-year-old man from Brooklyn was taken into custody and charged with Retail Theft. He was held for arraignment and later transported to Delaware County Prison.

Dec. 10, 6:30 p.m.
A male subject smashed the front glass of Domino's Pizza, 500 block of Baltimore Pike, and fled on foot on Baltimore Pike. The business was open at the time, and the motive is unknown.

Dec. 10, 10:02 p.m.
Officers investigated a crash on the 100 block of Saxer Avenue in which a vehicle struck a median and a parked car. The operator of the striking vehicle showed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody. The 47-year-old female from Darby submitted to a blood test and will be charged with DUI.
