Residents and staff at Springfield Crossings Enhanced Senior Living expressed their appreciation to local firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical technicians with a “day of gratitude” in observance of National First Responders Day this fall. The celebration included lunch in the community’s “Gratitude Café” and a visit from State Representative Jennifer O'Mara, who represents District 165.

“These selfless individuals are the first to arrive when disaster strikes, often risking their own lives to save others,” said Adrianne Stevens, executive director at Springfield Crossings. “We wanted to do something special to recognize our amazing first responders, with a special thank you to our firefighters for their incredible response during the massive fire at St. Francis of Assisi School on October 7.”

The fire severely damaged the building that houses pre-k, kindergarten, first and third grades at the school, which serves township students in preschool through eighth-grade.
