Springfield Schools Apologize For Student Data Leak
The bus company used by Springfield School District sent student bus data to all district families who are eligible for the bus.
SPRINGFIELD, PA — The Springfield School District has issued an apology to the community after its bussing company sent out students' information.
According to the district, bussing contractor Student Transportation of America accidentally sent out students' names and bus route information to all district families who were eligible for the bus.
Student Transportation of America sent out a more than 900-page document containing students' information.

"The error was made by one of its employees in earnest," the district said in its letter to the community. "Once the employee realized the error was made, attempts were made to retract the email; unfortunately, the software did not allow this error to be retracted."
The district said measures are being taken to make sure a similar incident does not occur again.

"'SSD is deeply apologetic for this contractor error," the district said. "We realize that the safety of our children is paramount."
