Star Student Athlete: James Coskey Shines Both On, Off Fields

EDDYSTONE, PA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

He is my son

Football, Lacrosse, Basketball

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

I think my son should be recognized because from the time he started playing football his patience, drive and determination not to mention his kindness and respect for others have earned him the admiration of his coaches and peers alike.

Jimmy's Ridley Football career started when he was eight years old in 2015 Jimmy was recipient of the John J. O'Brien award for Citizenship, Leadership, Cooperation, Courage, Sportsmanship and Ability. These were the characteristics that John lived by every day.

To honor him, the John J. O'Brien Award was established. It is given to the athlete who day in and day out exhibits these traits that we should all live by.

Jimmy's last year playing for Swathmorewood Ridley Raiders he was the recipient of the Dawn Raney Award also known as the Presidents Award.

Jimmy struggled academically early on but once again with his determination, commitment and with the help of the Ridley IEP Teachers Jimmy has maintained a B+ average, achieved perfect attendance all while playing Ridley Middle School Football, Swarthmore Wood Ridley Raiders Football, lacrosse and basketball. Jimmy is now a freshman in high school and was just moved up to the varsity team.

People throughout the years have always commented on his kindness, thoughtfulness, and his respect for others.

As he is becoming a young man, his qualities and traits on and off the field remain the same. So this is why I think Jimmy Coskey should be recognized as one of Pennsylvania's star athletes.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Jimmy is a young man who has a heart of gold and is dedicated not only to his coaches, teammates, and his love for the game, but also his teachers and classmates.
