Teens On Scooter Hurt After Crashing Into Truck: Delco Police

Two boys, both 14, were riding a scooter Tuesday when they collided with a truck. One is in critical condition, according to authorities.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — One teenage boy is in critical condition after he and another boy who were riding an electric scooter collided with a vehicle Tuesday, Delaware County authorities said.

The incident happened at about 8:51 p.m. Tuesday on the 400 block of North Bishop Avenue in Springfield, Springfield Township Police said.

Springfield Police were called to the area for a report of the crash and found two boys, both 14, being treated for injuries suffered in the crash.

Police said the boys were riding together on the scooter, heading south on Bishop Avenue, and to the left of a pickup truck, also heading south.

The scooter then collided with the truck as they and the truck passed Sycamore Avenue, police said.

Both boys were thrown from the scooter, and the truck's driver stopped and called 911. The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The two were treated at the scene before being taken to hospitals.

One boy suffered serious injuries and is in critical condition, while the other suffered a broken arm among other injuries and is in stable condition, police said.
