A Simple, Bold Idea to Boost Biz in Easttown
The idea is the brainchild of an Easttown business and civic leader.

An Easttown business owner who also serves as a township surpervisor has a simple idea that he hopes will become a big boost for companies that call the township home.
Marc Heppe says the key to putting Easttown first is simply to put businesses in the township first on the list of vendors for the township.  Heppe calls the campaign idea Easttown First.
The Easttown Board of Supervisors member and co-owner of DH2 Design in Berwyn says Easttown First simply calls on the township to consider making non-bid purchases of under $10,000 from vendors based in Easttown. Heppe says if a local company can offer a quality product or service at a competitive price, then the township should buy local.

Heppe told members of the Berwyn Devon Business and Professional Association on Monday that fellow supervisors have given the idea, which does not require a formal vote, the thumbs up.
Heppe also hopes to find ways to encourage local merchants to offer discounts to township residents to encourage every Easttown resident to shop local before heading to malls or other stores outside the Township.

Heppe says the idea on the consumer level is the same as on the township government level. By encouraging local businesses to offer shopping incentives to township residents Heppe says it could be a win-win for both merchants and consumers.
Heppe and his wife Devon were honored by the BDBPA Tuesday which named their company DH2 Design Business of the Year.
What kind of incentive would you like to see to promote businesses within Easttown and put Easttown First?
