Holiday light strands are not suitable for curbside recycling programs. Their design, which includes wires, can cause significant problems at recycling facilities. When these wires enter the sorting machinery, they can become tangled.
This tangling can lead to operational shutdowns at the facilities. Such disruptions not only halt the recycling process but also create potential safety hazards for the workers. The dedicated drop-off aims to prevent these issues while providing a responsible disposal option for residents.
