Beware Chesco Jury Duty Scam, DA’s Office Says

One scam caller demanded $3K from a resident after insisting she missed jury duty, authorities said.

TREDYFFRIN, PA - Authorities in Chester County are warning residents of a new scam involving fake jury duty fees.

In a Friday statement, the Chester County District Attorney’s Office said at least one resident reported a call from an unknown individual pretending to be from the Sheriff’s Department.

The unknown caller stated that, since the resident missed jury duty, she would have to pay a fine of $3,000, the DA’s office said.

“After receiving this information, Chester County Detectives made a call to this number and the person who answered indicated that it was the Chester County Sheriff’s Department,” the DA’s office said. “This is a SCAM.”
