Community Rallying After Man Killed In Easttown Fire

The victim, identified as Br. Nazeer in a GoFundMe campaign for his family, died in a Dec. 13 residential fire in Easttown Township.

EASTTOWN, PA — About a week after a fire in Easttown Township took a man's life, the community has shown strong support for this family.

The victim in the Dec. 13 fire has been identified as Br. Nazeer in a GoFundMe campaign established to help his wife and children.

"In a matter of moments, his wife lost her life partner, his four young children lost the man who was their protector and comfort, and the family lost its sole breadwinner, leaving them emotionally and financially devastated," campaign organizer Syed Numan wrote on the page.

Crews were called to a home on the 500 block of Foxwood Lane in Easttown at about 11 a.m. Dec. 13 for a report of smoke emanating from the home, according to the Paoli Fire Company.

Firefighters met with a person outside the home, who said someone was still in the burning structure.

A search for the person in the building was launched immediately, and firefighters found fire in the basement and one deceased person.

"Nazeer was more than a provider, yet providing for his family was at the core of who he was," Numan wrote. "He was the gentle heart of his home, the father who made his children feel safe and cherished, and the husband who worked tirelessly so his family never had to go without the daily necessities of life. Now, the laughter, security, and reassurance he brought into their home have been replaced by an aching silence and an overwhelming sense of loss."

Funds will be used for housing, food, utilities, transportation, and the "everyday needs of growing children," and go directly to the victim's wife, according to the page.

As of 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, the campaign has raised more than $260,650 through about 1,400 donations.

"If you cannot donate, you can still help by sharing this campaign widely and by keeping this family in your thoughts and prayers," Numan wrote. "Your generosity will not take away their pain, but it can ease their burden and remind them that they are not alone—that in their darkest hours, there are people who care enough to stand with them. May every donation, every share, and every prayer be a tribute to the memory of Br. Nazeer and a source of strength for the wife and four young children he leaves behind."
