TREDYFFRIN, PA — Tredyffrin supervisors are reviewing two proposals for a feasibility study for a bike skill/pump park on Mill Road Park.

Joseph DiRocco, assistant township manager and financial director, said at a Feb. 21 meeting that the township received two proposals, each under $9,000.

Students Dominick “Dom” Pecora, an eighth-grader at Valley Forge Middle School, said the group raised nearly $4,000 in less than 24 hours.

“The funding will be here pretty shortly,” Dom informed the township supervisors.

The supervisors said they will review the studies before the March 8 meeting.

William F. Martin, township manager, said the feasibility study is required before an application can be submitted for a state grant.

Supervisor KS Bhasker said the township is required to carefully review the project even if it is funded by the community.

Supervisor David Miller noted the funds were raised in a short time and there is a great deal of enthusiasm for the project.

Arthur Zadrozny, a township resident in the Chesterbrook development, is helping the teens with the project and is hopeful the feasibility student will be complete in time for the township to apply for a state grant.

Pump tracks are trending in suburban neighborhoods.

They allow riders to use an up-and-down pumping motion to propel the bike forward instead of pedaling. The tracks have hilly dirt inclines covering about a half to 1-acre.
