Bloodhound Tracks Local Student at School
Heather the hound needed only a few minutes to find the student.
A bloodhound tracked a student near Valley Forge Park on Wednesday at the Vanguard School. It was part of a planned demonstration during the school's career day for students.
Heather, a 6-year-old pure bred, was there with handler Allen Means to demonstrate how she tracks missing people and helps police search for suspects or prison escapees who are on the lam.
Heather and her master from Red Rose K-9 Search and Rescue in Lancaster County were part of the school's career day. Vanguard's middle and high school students learned about careers in everything from real estate to heating & air conditioning, bicycle repair, healthcare and emergency first responders.
