Conestoga Girls LAX Team Advances in States

's girl's lacrosse team is having the kind of fairytale post season they write sports movies about. The lady Pioneers are celebrating their first-ever win in the PIAA state tournament after trouncing Great Valley High School 13-9 in the opening round of states Wednesday night in West Chester.

It was Conestoga's second post-season win over Great Valley in two weeks. The Pioneers knocked then-undefeated Great Valley out of the quarter-final round of the District Championship playoffs.  Great Valley was a heavy favorite back then. Conestoga women's lacrosse team finished the regular season in sixth place in the Central League.

That was then. This is now. The women of  Conestoga lacrosse are on fire.

The win on Wednesday night moves the team to the next round of the state tourney with a quarter-final game against Strath Haven, another Central League rival, on Saturday. The time and location for that game is TBD.
