Conestoga Teacher Wins Citadel Heart of Learning Award

TREDYFFRIN TWP, PA —Conestoga High School teacher Orlando Carvajal won the 2022 Citadel Heart of Learning Award for Tredyffrin/Easttown School District.

The award recognizes local teachers who demonstrate dedication in and outside of the classroom.

Teachers from across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties were nominated by their students, peers, parents, and administrators.

Thirty-one greater Philadelphia teachers were recognized by Citadel Credit Union for "going above and beyond and truly building strength in education".

For the past 11 years, Orlando has supported T/E students as a world language teacher, tutor and coach.

"The people are what I love most about teaching in T/E," Orlando said. "The students are kind, enthusiastic and eager to learn. All staff members are friendly, hard-working and empathetic.

"The community is caring, supportive and engaging. Having the opportunity to build relationships with those who care deeply about education is very meaningful to me."

The aware was established 21 years ago in partnership with the Chester County Intermediate Unit.
