Devon Train Station Upgrades In The Works
The Easttown supervisors unanimously agreed to apply for a $3 million state grant to update the area in and around the Devon station.

EASTTOWN TWP — The Easttown supervisors have applied for a $3 million state Department of Community and Economic Development grant to improve the area in and around the Devon train station.
If the grant is awarded, a total of $1.5 million would go toward SEPTA improvements within the train station and $1.5 million would go for sidewalk and crosswalk connections.
Eugene C. Briggs Jr., township manager said the township has been working with SEPTA on the the grant application.

The township would be required to pay $450,000 if the grant is awarded.
Briggs said the township has the funds in its sidewalk fund to cover costs. The application includes letters from SEPTA and Amtrak to do improvements on the property.

Beth D’Antonia, chairwoman, said the supervisors have met with SEPTA officials to discuss the plan.
“We are not guaranteed to be awarded the grant, but this is a great opportunity for us,” she said.
The upgrades would be similar to the Wayne train station.
