Double Amputee War Vet Preps for Y Triathlon

Upper Main Line YMCA event will feature several amputee competitors.

Pisey Tan is a war hero who's tackled some tough hurdles on the battlefield. Now he's about to take on a new challenge in the 's Triathlon on April 29.

He is a double leg amputee who has learned to bike (and run) again it has given him a new sense of independence.

A United States Army veteran of the Iraq war, Tan was deployed twice to Iraq. During his second deployment in 2005 with the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armored Regiment, an improvised explosive (IED) device struck his vehicle. Tan’s injuries forced the amputation of both of his legs.
