Easttown Supervisors Allocate $1.1M American Rescue Funds

The supervisors approved projects including police and public works vehicles and funding for fire companies and stormwater management.

EASTTOWN TWP —Easttown supervisors Monday night unanimously approved the use of $1.13 million allocated from the federal government to the township in the American Rescue Plan Act of March 2021.

The plan provided economic relief to state and local governments strain in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The money is intended to be used for general government services.

Municipalities are required to allocate the funds by Dec. 31, 2024 and spend the allocation by Dec. 31, 2026.

Township manager Eugene C. Briggs said that the allocations can still be modified in the event changes are necessary.

Easttown is an 8.2-square mile township in Chester County with a population of 10,477.

Here are the highlights of the expenditures approved:

  • Unmarked police vehicle: $40,000
  • Marked police vehicle: $70,000
  • Berwyn Fire Company $184,276
  • Paoli Fire Company $78,976
  • Public Works vehicle; $85,000
  • LED street lighting: $134,000
  • Library roof repairs: $95,000
  • Upgrades to basketball court at Johnson Park: $23,500
  • Hilltop courtyard plantings: $20,000
  • Municipal storm sewer: $150,000
  • Sanitary infrastructure: $110,000
  • Daventry Culvert stormwater upgrades: $35,000
  • Midland Inlets stormwater improvements: $35,000
  • Phone system: $10,000
  • Remote intercom: $2,300
  • Miscellaneous projects: $40,00
