Emergency Bridge Repair On Chesterbrook Blvd. Over Route 202 Slated
Tredyffrin supervisors Monday night approved a $123,050 contract for emergency repairs to the underside of a bridge over Route 202.
TREDYFFRIN, PA —Tredyffrin supervisors Monday night approved a $123,050 contract for emergency concrete repairs to the underside of the Chesterbrook Boulevard Bridge over Route 202.
Stephen Burgos, the township engineer, said the bridge, which spans six lanes, has a lot of traffic and must be repaired.
“This is an emergency project,” Burgos said. “This is a public safety issue that has to be addressed.”

The work is expected to begin in April.

The work involves lane closures for Route 202 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for two days.
In late February, PennDOT notified the township an area in the southbound lane of the bridge has cracks with the potential for water to come down to the traffic.
Burgos said PennDOT routinely inspects the bridge.
“There aren’t many townships that own a bridge over a six-lane highway,” he noted.
Supervisor K.S. Baskar said he is glad the problem was found and it is going to be fixed.
“I would not postpone this any longer than we have to,” Baskar said.
In the meantime, Baskar said, he will avoid driving under the bridge.
The work will also involve reducing water penetration and repainting the graffiti.
