Excessive Heat Warning Issued For Thursday

How hot will it get? The National Weather Service says the predicted heat index is truly dangerous.

A heat index as high as 104 degrees is what the National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting for Thursday afternoon in Chester County and the entire greater Philadelphia area.

An excessive heat warning is in effect from noon until 8 p.m. Thursday.  The NWS warns the triple-digit heat index is a danger to everyone, particularly seniors and young children.

The NWS warns that "the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors."
