Federal Agents Examine The Wreckage Of Plane Crash On The Main Line
The plane is being taken to a storage facility in Claymont, Del., for further study, police said.

WAYNE, PA — Federal investigators examined the wreckage Thursday of a small plane that crashed on St. Davids Golf Club course Wednesday afternoon.
Federal Aviation Administration investigators spent the day documenting the scene near the 14th hole of the private golf club. The scene was closed off to the public during the investigation.
Tredyffrin Township police Superintendent T. Michael Beaty said a salvage crew from Claymont, Del., will store the plane for further study by federal investigators.

Beaty commended the pilot for landing in an open area when the plane landed near the club’s maintenance building, approximately 100 yards north of Upper Gulph Road.
The pilot and his wife, both in their 70s, were taken out of the wreckage by golfers, he said.

“The pilot did a nice job,” Beaty said, while waiting for the storage crew to arrive. “The pilot had his wits about him. They both appeared in good shape.”
The two are being treated in Paoli Hospital. Their identities were not disclosed.
Two cats were rescued. The cats were taken to the Radnor Fire Company station until a family member of the victims arrived to pick up the cats.
Beaty said the couple flies regularly in the Cirrus 22 single engine plane with the two cats to and from Florida.
The aircraft was enroute to Wings Field in Blue Bell, Plymouth Township, from Fort Myers, Fla. with a stop for fuel in South Carolina.
