TREDYFFRIN, PA —Tredyffrin supervisors Monday night authorized that an emergency engineer design proposal be conducted to repair a bridge on Glenhardie Road North over Trout Creek.

Township engineer Stephen Burgo said an April 4 inspection disclosed severe deterioration of a stone mason arch, and a wing and wall are showing signs of movement. He said the previous inspection report did not identify any cracking issues.

As a result, Glenhardie Road North, which is a block away from a $117 million Pennsylvania Turnpike widening project, is closed to all motorists, excluding the five property owners on the block.

The engineering company conducted an inspection on April 4 and recommended these procedures:

  • Notify the turnpike contractors that trucks are restricted from crossing the bridge on Glenhardie North;
  • Provide access to only five residences;
  • Move traffic from the northwest side of the bridge.

The township has already placed barriers to block traffic. The consultant will also evaluate the Richards Road bridge over Trout Creek.
