Glenhardie Road Road Closed To Motorists In Tredyffrin
The road closure is part of a $117.8M project to widen the Pennsylvania Turnpike that goes over Thomas and Glenhardie roads.

TREDYFFRIN, PA —Glenhardie Road, between Richards and Colonel Dewees roads, is closed to motorists today through the end of July 2023 as part of an ongoing $117.8 million project to upgrade the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Traffic is detoured via Walker, Richards, and Thomas roads. Residents will be able to access their driveways from Richards Road.
Meanwhile, Thomas Road reopened on Feb. 13 after being closed for four months for bridge work.

Thomas and Glenhardie close for the demolition of the existing overpass and construction of new abutments and the foundation for the new bridge.
Updating the bridges over Thomas and Glenhardie roads is part of the project to widen a two-mile stretch of the turnpike to six lanes at the Valley Forge Interchange.

Turnpike officials said that the two-mile stretch is the most widely traveled section of the turnpike.
The project is expected to be completed in 2025.
Project Update

The contractor completed this foundation and abutment for the outer eastbound and westbound sections of the new bridge carrying the turnpike over Thomas Road.
On the eastbound side of the turnpike, retaining wall construction is ongoing west of Glenhardie Road, while support for the retaining wall is going on east of Glenhardie Road.
Noise wall posts have been installed West of Route 422.
Excavation for sediment basins on the eastbound side of the Turnpike near the Valley Forge Service Plaza is ongoing.
On the eastbound side, drilling and grouting for ground improvement are ongoing, along with access and haul road construction.
On the westbound side, drainage pipe installation continues along with drilling and grouting for ground improvement.
