
A crane capable of lifting 150 lifts a piece of he pedestrian bridge guardrail into place Thursday night at Valley Forge Road just south of Swedesford Road.
A construction crew spent the evening installing the handrails and part I the decking on the new Great Valley Trail bridge that will carry pedestrians over Valley Forge Road.
A project manager on the site told Patch that he expected the work to take until about 2 a.m. Friday.
Valley Forge was closed to traffic at 6 p.m. Thursday and was expected to be reopened in plenty of time for the Friday morning rush hour.
The next part of the bridge construction will be pouring cement in the newly-installed steel plating to create he bridge's pedestrian walkway.
The project supervisor said that process will not close he road entirely but will require partial lane closing as the concrete is poured.
