LeBoutillier Road Bridge to Close March 18

The bridge will undergo extensive rehabilitation, including repairs to the bridge deck, new paint and pavement and the installation of a new guide rail.

The bridge carrying LeBoutillier Road over Valley Creek will close March 18 as Tredyffrin Township plans to rehabilitate the bridge.

The work will take two months, according to a schematic of the detour route. During that time, traffic will be detoured "from Swedesford Road to North Valley Road to Yellow Springs Road to Mill Road."

The township considered replacing the bridge entirely, but a 2012 study by Philadelphia-based engineering firm McCormick Taylor showed the existing structure was sufficient for rehabilitation.

In February, the township selected Innovative Construction Services as the contractor for the project:

The work consist of removing existing pavements and subbase from bridge deck and approaches, repair of existing reinforced concrete bridge deck surface and fascia beam encasement, cleaning and painting existing exposed steel flanges of superstructure, constructing new reinforced concrete curb and portion of reinforced concrete deck, resetting dislodged/missing stones and re-pointing mortar joints of substructure, installing new guide rail, repaving the approach roadways and bridge deck.
