Living the Dream: BPALL to Mark Landmark Date

They knew if they built it, families would come.

The Berwyn-Paoli Little League is preparing to celebrate two decades of living the dream of some local baseball visionaries.

A little over twenty years ago there was nothing under a stretch of high tension wires but dirt and empty space. Since 1992 there have been hopes, dreams, home runs, base hits and strike outs on a series of baseball diamonds named the Field of Dreams.

BPALL will celebrate the Field of Dreams' 20th anniversary this Saturday Night May 19 at a BPALL Gala from 7 p.m.-midnight at Waynesborough Country Club.

The effort began with a vision to build fields to accomodate the growing population of families in the the area in the late 1980's and early 90's. The building process began in November 1992 as volunteers broke ground and broke a sweat cleaning up the area, removing trash and clearing the way for the construction of baseball diamonds.

Many of the first players on those new fields are today parents with players of their own. The attached pdf press release includes more details on the anniversary.
