Mr. Yang Undergoes Second Eye Surgery

Berwyn produce merchant was seriously injured in January robbery.

Yong Yang is back at work part time after undergoing a second round of surgery, but his long-time employee says it didn't go as hoped.

Mark Morroney says "Mr. Yang" (as everybody calls him) underwent a second surgery the Monday before Easter. Doctors had hoped to restore sight in Yang's left eye with a procedure to replace the eye's lens and reconnect some tissue that had been severed when Yang was punched in the face during a robbery on January 18.

Morroney tells TE Patch the operation did not go as well as doctors had originally hoped and that it could be another three months before they know if the surgery has  actually restored sight in the left eye.

Yang was injured in an robbery attack as he got into his van after closing the store for the night back in January. 18 year old Octavio Sandoval and a 17 year old alleged accomplice are being held in Chester County jail awaiting trial on charges stemming from the attack.
