New Traffic Patterns This Week At Valley Forge National Park

Motorists are asked to take Route 23 to access the park during ongoing construction upgrades.

VALLEY FORGE, PA —Road construction and utility upgrades in and around the Valley Forge National Park changed traffic patterns this week, according to the National Park and PennDOT reports.

  • Gulph Road between the National Memorial Arch and Thomas Road is closed weekdays to motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists, for ongoing utility work. The road is expected to reopen in the fall.
  • County Line Road is closed Monday through Friday. Motorists are asked to find alternative routes.
  • Route 23 remains open and provides access to a parking lot next to the park’s visitor center.
  • Two state roads in Tredyffrin Township near the park., Thomas and Glenhardie roads, are reduced to one lane each with portable traffic lights installed in each direction due to Pennsylvania Turnpike construction.

The 3,500-acre park is the site of the 1777-1778 encampment of the Continental Army. It has over two million visitors a year.

The road work is part of a $117 million project to widen a 2-mile stretch of the turnpike near the Valley Forge Interchange to six lanes.
