New Twp Manager Takes Oath, Makes History

Bill Martin made Tredyffrin Township History just by taking the oath of office Monday night.

Bill Martin was sworn in as Tredyffrin Township's new Township Manager Monday night and he made history in the process.

Martin became the first Township resident to hold the position, which was left open when Mimi Gleason retired from the post in September. Neither Gleason nor any of the previous township managers in recent history actually lived in the township.

Tredyfrrin Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Michelle Kichline made the observation as she welcomed Martin to his new position.

Martin was sworn in to his new office Monday night by Chester County District Judge Thomas Tartaglio.  Martin was joined at the brief ceremony by his wife Marie and daughter Kate. The couple also has a four year old son who stayed home with a babysitter because of the late hour.

Martin was previously the Bridgeport Borough Manager in Montgomery County. Before taking the Bridgeport job he had been with the Radnor Township government as assistant township manager.
