TREDYFFRIN, PA — Tredyffrin Township police continue to investigate the Saturday night death of a 17-year-old newly licensed driver who died in a one-car vehicle accident in the 600 block of Contention Lane.

Griffin Lang, who police said had recently received his driver’s license, was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle crashed into a tree on a two-lane roadway that is windy and lined with trees.

The accident occurred just before midnight Saturday.

Lt. Tyler Moyer said the investigation is expected to be complete within the next week.

He said that a black box is being taken out of the vehicle Thursday.

The box collects information after a collision including speed, acceleration, braking, steering, and airbag activiation.

The Chester County coroner’s office has conducted an autopsy. Toxicology tests were sent to a state police laboratory.

Moyer said there are typically one or two fatal crashes in the township each year. The crashes subsided after the Route 202 widening project was complete, he said.
