Thunder, lightning and rain rolling in over the Devon Horse Show grounds meant evening activities for the opening night of the Devon Horse Show Fall Classic were cancelled Thursday.
The rain held off until the last horse of the last equestrian event had finished and then the skies opened in a deluge, sending the already-thinned crowd racing for shelter and cars.
A small midway with kiddie rides had closed before the end of the show in anticipation of the storms.
The show which features free parking resumes Friday morning with equestrian events at 8 a.m. and the Fall Festival runs from 10 a.m. - 9:30 p.m.. Live music in the picnic grove is scheduled from 6-11 p.m. Friday, weather permitting.
Gate admission for the fall event is $5 for adults 12-65. Children under 12, and seniors 65 and up are free.Â
