No Teacher Demotions for T/E School District

The T/E School Board finance committee takes teacher demotions off the table.

The T/E School Board won't vote to demote the most educated teachers in the district after all. The board is also expected to vote to raise taxes 3.3% for an average increase of $155 per year per tax paying household in TE.

The hotly debated demotion proposal would have been a way to close a budget gap for the 2012-2013 school year. Instead, Main Line Media News reports the district and the teachers' union, the T/E Education Association (TEEA) have reached an agreement to give up advanced education tuition reimbursement for the 2012-2013 school year in exchange for a promise not to demote PhD's to part time status.
