Tredyffrin Police search for suspects as a national crime trend hits here...again.

Tredyffrin Police are investigating a case of theft involving a container of used cooking oil.

Police were called to the Gateway Shopping Center at 3:23 p.m. on Friday, January 4 when a restaurant reported the theft of used cooking oil from a waste container behind the building. The value of the used oil and the damaged lock is approximately $250.00.

Used cooking oil is a hot commodity, especially in the face of high gas prices. Back in March 2012, USA today ran a feature article on the slimy stuff and its value as a biodiesel fuel and use in some animal feeds. At the time the article says used cooking oil was selling for 15 cents per pound.
